I. Love. Podcasts. I listen to podcasts whenever I have to travel. I listen to podcasts while I’m working my way through my to-do list. Getting ready, cleaning or cooking? I’ll be listening to a podcast. For around a year now, I’ve replaced my Spotify playlists with chatty podcasts and have been listening to them more than ever. From light-heart comedy shows to educational, motivational talks, there is something for everyone no matter what mood you’re in. So, whether you’re a podcast novice or are looking for some new recommendations, here are 6 podcasts you should be listening to:
If you’re a foodie:
Off Menu Podcast with James Acaster and Ed Gamble
Foodies rejoice. An entire podcast dedicated to celebs rattling away about their all-time favourite food. Comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster invite guests into their make-believe restaurant to choose their dream menu. They discuss their ideal starter, main course, side dish, dessert and drink and things can get controversial. The podcast kicks off with the all-important question; ‘poppadoms or bread?’ (bread ofc). Then, from here on out, the celebs share amusing foodie vignettes and anecdotes. It may sound like a peculiar premise for a podcast, but, 60 minutes of comedians talking about their dream menu? I’m there.
Warning: don’t listen to this while hungry.
Try this episode: Ep 3: Richard Osman
If you want to be entertained and informed:
The High Low Podcast with Dolly Alderton and Pandora Sykes
The High Low is a chatty pop culture podcast in which Dolly and Pandora share their insightful views on current world affairs. Their book, article and TV show recommendations never fail – I just wish I had enough time to keep up with them all. This is my favourite podcast to listen to whenever I want to feel both entertained, but also informed. They always bring their unique take on thought-provoking topics and current world affairs, discussing everything from Cardi B to Borris Johnson. I always feel enriched after listening.
Warning: say goodbye to your social life as you try to consume all of their media recommendations.

If you want to feel inspired:
Happy Place with Fearne Cotton
A podcast that never fails to leave me feeling inspired. Fearne talks to incredible people about life, love, loss and everything in-between as she reveals what happiness means to them. The conversations are so down-to-earth that you feel as if you’re in the kitchen with them having a cuppa. It’s inspiring listening to the setbacks these people have overcome, reminding us that no one is immune to mental health issues. Moreover, it’s a perfect reminder that nothing is permanent; just because you feel low today doesn’t mean you will next week or next month. This podcast, in particular, has been my go-to on long walks and never fails to bring joy into my day. From actors and activists to authors and sportsmen, my favourite episodes include those featuring Matt Haig, Dawn French and Gok Wan.
Warning: you may need a box of tissues on standby.
Try this episode: Dawn French
If you want the low-down on fitness, health and happiness:
Fit & Fearless
Tally, Zanna and Vic – aka the #GirlGains crew – tackle all things fitness and body confidence in their weekly motivational podcast. Join them as they debunk nutrition myths from celery juice to delving into the truth about sugar. They often have guests such as celebrities, dietitians and well-being experts ensuring an entertaining and educational listen. They also ‘fess up to their health and fitness blunders of the past and discuss where they are now with their relationship with exercise and food.
Warning: get ready to unfollow all those ‘healthy lifestyle’ Instagram accounts who tell you pizza is the Devil’s food.

If you want to be creeped out:
The Last Podcast on the Left
I’ve only listened to a handful of their formidable 400 and counting episodes, but this podcast is perfect for anyone who is up for a combination of horror and humour. The Last Podcast On The Left is hosted by comedians and long-time friends Ben Kissel, Marcus Parks and Henry Zebrowski and covers all the horrors our world has to offer both imagined and real. The episodes comprise everything from demons and slashers to cults and serial killers. I’ve been listening to this one on my runs to distract me from the impending stitch and fatigue.
Warning: not for the faint of heart.
Try this episode: Jonestown Part I – Everyone in the World Is My Friend (Five-part mini-series)
If you just fancy having a laugh:
Sh**ged Married Annoyed with Rose and Chris Ramsey
This chatty podcast is hosted by comedian Chris Ramsey and his hilarious wife Rosie. They chat away all about life, relationships, arguments, annoyances, parenting and growing up. I always have to constrain my laughter when they’re answering peculiar questions from the public. I just love their hilariously real and brutally honest depiction of everyday life. What I’d pay to watch these two hosting their own TV chat show together. They never fail to crack me up.
Warning: sometimes these two take honesty to a whole new level.
Try this episode: Ep 9. Wine and a FAB time
These are just a hand-full of podcasts that I could rave about. That being said, expect a part 2, maybe even a part 3, to make an appearance soon!
Do you listen to podcasts? What are your favourites?
Thanks for reading,
Evie.

Fearne’s podcast & Fit & Fearless are what I need to subscribe to! I listen to loads of news/political podcasts, and I need a little inspiration amidst all the crazy haha :’) I adore An Unexpected Podcast, a play on words of The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey. The two hosts, Ezra & Lane, delve deep into Lord of the Rings, and each episode is a read-through & discussion of every single chapter. It’s the best 2-ish hours I can spend!

I’ve heard so much about The High Low, but I don’t know what I haven’t gotten around to it myself! Thanks for recommending specific episodes; that makes trying out a new podcast so much less daunting! I’ve downloaded the Meghan/Harry episode already 🙂 // I listen to quite a few podcasts, but lately I’ve been reaching for lighter podcasts like Comments by Celebs (entertainment news), Views (Youtuber David Dobrik), and Potterless (Harry Potter) -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

The hosts of the High Low are taking a break now for August, so now would be a perfect time to catch up on a couple of episodes. Yeah I do find lighter podcasts easier to play in the background whenever I’m busy doing something else!
